I first visited this restaurant in September 2011 for my brother’s birthday, as part of a group of six. While it appears unassuming from the outside, and the affordable prices might give the impression it is merely average, the service and quality of food surpasses anywhere I have been in a long time – including a Michelin-starred London restaurant! It was on a weekend, and the place was full – but despite that, and the fact that two of our party have severe food allergies to take into account, our food was delivered in a timely fashion and every bite was delicious! The staff were friendly and attentive, and were happy to explain exactly what each dish contained, and are truly proud of their Italian roots – it’s almost as if the place has been uprooted from Naples and landed, luckily for us, in Kent; they make perfect strangers feel like old friends. For six people, with 2-3 courses each, and plenty of wine and other drinks, the bill still came in under £100. I have yet to go back there, simply because I live nowhere near – but next time I find myself wanting to dine out in Tunbridge Wells, Vesuvio will definitely be top of my list.

I loved Il Vesuvio – small and friendly with a great personal service from the family staff and absolutely delicious food with generous portions and excellent value! I love Italian restaurants and this is definitely my favourite. We were very impressed and will definitely be eating there again!

My favourite restaurant in Tunbridge Wells. As a regional restaurant It makes a nice change to the standard fare, and tastes fresh and healthy.

My favourite spot in Tunbridge Wells, every time we go the service is flawless, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is always so friendly. Its very reasonably priced and you can choose between a secluded restaurant or a lively bar upstairs. I cant fault it, it’s a perfect evening out.

Had a very enjoyable evening in the Wells Kitchen. Huge improvement on previous bars that have used the same premises. Food was top class – probably the best burger I’ve ever had and reasonably priced too. The selection of beers/lagers was also very good and made a nice change from the usual that you find in almost every pub. Very pleasant atmosphere with chilled seating area to sit and chat downstairs and louder music upstairs. Will definitely be visiting the Wells Kitchen next time I’m back in Tunbridge Wells.

Cant agree more with the review from James below. The service – even when they are busy and that is pretty much any time of the day – is consistently very good as is the food! Highly recommended whether for a coffee and cake, breakfast (most delicious mushrooms) lunch or quiet dinner!

Had our office Christmas lunch here and really enjoyed it. We picked it over several other restaurants because of the delicious looking menu and reasonable prices and really weren’t let down! The venison was amazing! Very much looking forward to going back soon!

Had Christmas Eve lunch and was agreeably surprised. Wonderful ambience which was set by the waitress who was a real character. Carrot and orange soup was delicious, followed by pork casserole which was wholesome and a yummy pear belle helene. The rest of my party were equally pleased with their food. Would happily return again.
