We have been many times as a couple and have taken friends and never been disappointed. The warm-hearted welcome is all you would expect from an Italian family and wholly Italian mature team. This former pub is now a very smartly appointed ristorante. Comfortable chairs, good tableware, pretty views from the windows by the terrace and river. The fare is a long way from the usual pasta e pizza style (though both these figure in a number of interesting dishes. Challenge them! The fixed price lunch is terrific value and the portions substantial. I am in a wheel-chair and treated like royalty - but so is everybody. The house wines are excellent, as you would expect in a place where they want you to ce back. Very strongly recommended.

Exceptional, outstanding cuisine. Simply the best Italian ever and one of the best restaurants in the area. The menu is mouthwatering! The hard part is choosing what to have ... the answer is to come back for another meal. Everything is fantastic: the location on the river with outside terrace, service, ambience, decor, wine served at the perfect temperature and the delicious menu of course. The staff are very friendly, attentive but not intrusive. The chef is clearly a genius ... can't wait to go back. I cannot rate this restaurant highly enough ... you simply must go.

We stumbled on this little gem following a trip to a Mayfield florist to choose wedding flowers for our daughter. After driving around looking for a spot of lunch, we opted for a 'this will do' decision. The decor is uninspiring and even a little drab but don't let that put you off.

I can honestly say , the meal was up there with my top five EVER.

We shared a starter of fat, succulent scallops wrapped in full flavoured pancetta, each mouthful was exquisite and all the flavours worked beautifully. The pink peppercorn sauce and rocket salad was a delight.

My husband had the panfried king prawns. Each, the size of a small child's arm!!. They were sweet, meaty and the garlic and ginger were delicate and fresh flavoured.

My daughter had the spaghetti with whole lobster. A mouthwatering buttery sauce which complimented the moist lobster meat.

Not to be ignored, my 9 month old grandson was treated to a bowl of spaghetti in butter & Parmesan sauce. YUMMY MUMMY!!

I opted for the Razor Clams in Linguine. Having never had these shellfish before, I am now hooked. Similar to squid but with a more delicate flavour. The flavours were absolutely perfect and never overwhelmed the shellfish.

Impeccable, friendly service. The chef takes obvious delight in his creations.

My only regret, we didn't have time for a dessert and that its not closer to our home in Brighton.

We had a wonderful time at La Dolce Vita, the food and atmosphere and attentive staff, made this such an enjoyable experience and so much better than we could have hoped for. The menu is outstanding and everyone really make people feel welcome.
 Very well done!
